Griffin Coal is located near Collie, a town which is located 45 minutes from the coastal city of Bunbury and approximately 2.5 hours from the capital city of Perth, Western Australia.
Griffin Coal mines coal from the Ewington Mine. Griffin Coal’s mining operations supply thermal coal to Bluewater’s Power, South 32, Iluka Resources and Tronox Holdings.
Having been originally incorporated in 1925 as the Western Australian Coal Mining Briquetting and By-Product Company Ltd, The Griffin Coal Mining Company Limited name was adopted in 1927.
Each year Griffin Coal mines approximately 2,900,000 tonnes of coal for domestic customers.

Priority Areas for Consideration
Griffin Coal is committed to the local communities in which it operates and endeavours to support community groups or not-for-profit organisations that satisfy at least one of the following areas:
I. Health and Safety
Projects targeted at improving the welfare and safety of the local community (e.g. lifestyle management training, early intervention programs, injury management or support programs).
II. Environment
Projects seeking to maintain a zero-harm outcome for the local community (e.g. conservation and rehabilitation programs).
III. Community and Culture
Projects or cultural activities that benefit a significant number of members in the local community (e.g. community awareness programs, arts and cultural events).
IV. Youth and Education
Projects that focus on youth, education, skills attainment, self-development and high achievement in the local community (e.g. educational and leadership programs, educational scholarships or awards).
V. Sport
Sporting initiatives that benefit a significant number of members in the local community (e.g. sporting clubs, events and international competitions).
Who can apply?
Griffin Coal welcomes applications from community groups and not for profit organisations who are seeking support for initiatives that are aligned with the objectives and priority areas of the program.
How to Apply?
Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis throughout the year. Please submit a request for an Application Form and Guidelines Policy to: communitysponsorship@griffincoal.com.au. Completed applications are to be received by Griffin Coal for consideration, a minimum of 12 weeks prior to the or event date or initiative funding requirement.
